About Our Church

Serving the Katy, Texas community since 1979.

Our history

Serving our community since 1979

Within one year, Tri-County had its own beautiful church building, completely debt-free.

Tri-County Baptist Church began in Katy, Texas, in 1979, meeting in a storefront while saving for a permanent home. In time, the church purchased acreage outside of town and began building a fund for construction.

During those early years, a missionary the church supported wrote with an urgent need. His congregation had poured the foundation and raised the walls of a church building, but they needed $10,000 to complete the roof before the rainy season began.

With no building of their own, giving away a large portion of their building fund might have seemed impractical. Yet Pastor Rick Shrader believed the Lord was leading Tri-County to help. The men of the church wholeheartedly agreed, and the church sent $10,000 to the mission field.

God richly blessed that sacrificial step of faith. Within one year, Tri-County had its own beautiful church building, completely debt-free.

That same spirit continues today. We remain committed to generous missions giving, seeing souls saved, staying debt-free, and serving the Lord with zeal.

The Bible

We preach from the King James Bible

We believe that God has given infallible Scripture in the original Greek and Hebrew writings and that He has preserved them through the lines of the Hebrew Masoretic, Greek Received Text and the Authorized King James Bible in the English language.

Our music

Praising God with time-honored hymns

We believe that the singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs is an essential part of worship, and that God is glorified through the faithful use of songs grounded in sound doctrine and truth. Therefore, we joyfully sing from the Living Hymns hymnal, which preserves the rich heritage of sacred music through time-honored hymns that exalt Christ and strengthen the believer’s faith.

Missions

A heart for World Missions

The Lord Jesus sent His church to “teach all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Tri-County has a heart for World Missions, and for the community around us here in Katy.
